Why start now? Why take a risk?

The length of time you save and the earnings percentage you achieve in your investments are probably the two most important factors in determining how much money you will accumulate to meet your retirement needs. (Of course, you first have to put money in for this to be important!)

Since there is usually a correlation between the rate of return and the risk in an investment choice, many participants are willing to accept additional investment risk with the objective of achieving a higher return of their investment.

The graph below illustrates the significance of both time and rate of return is asset accumulation. It shows how a contribution of $50 per paycheck will grow. It shows this for different years of participation and for different earnings percentages.
